Beginnings
Golden Circle began construction in 1946 with the first pineapples coming off the line in June 1947. The official opening was 28 October, 1947.
Location
Golden Circle's main factory is located at Northgate, a northern suburb of Brisbane. Golden Circle also owns the Original Juice Co. plant at Mill Park, on Melbourne's northern outskirts. Sales offices are located in every Australian state and New Zealand.
Employment
Golden Circle employs a large number of people from many different professional, technical, administrative and processing areas. Due to the seasonal nature of the business, the total number of employees varies between 700 and 1400 people.
Product range
Golden Circle manufacture over 500 products including shelf stable fruit and vegetables (in cans and glass jars), fruit juices fruit drinks, cordials, soft drinks, jams, conserves and baby food. Golden Circle is well known as a tropical fruit specialist, especially pineapple, although pineapple now only accounts for 20% of our product range.
Environment
Golden Circle is committed to environmentally sound practices and has many projects aimed at reducing waste, recycling and curbing water usage. The company manages its operations in an environmentally responsible manner at all times.
Warehousing
Golden Circle has a paperless, computerised inventory management system.
Sales
Australia is the principal market for Golden Circle products, however, it exports to New Zealand, Pacific Islands, Japan, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong, China, Indonesia, Philippines, New Guinea, New Caledonia, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Fiji and Western Samoa.
Community Relations
Golden Circle has a long history of encouraging health and fitness through its sponsorship of a number of community programs and events. The company also contributes substantial food donations to charities.
