Golden Circle Meat Balls Mooloola Recipe

Ingredients

  • 500g mince steak
  • 1 small onion (grated)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon tomato sauce
  • ½ teaspoon nutmeg or ginger
  • 2 tablespoons peanut oil
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons breadcrumbs
  •  

    Sauce

  • ½ chopped onion or 4 shallots
  • 1 clove garlic crushed (optional)
  • 1 cup grated carrot
  • ½ cup thinly sliced celery
  • 2 tablespoons vinegar or lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 x 440g can GOLDEN CIRCLE Pineapple Pieces
  • 2 tablespoons cornflour

Method

For the meat balls: combine first 7 ingredients, blend well, shape into medium sized meat balls and sauté in hot oil until brown. Drain and keep warm.

 

For the sauce: add onion, garlic, carrot and celery to pan in which meat balls were cooked, cook for 2 minutes, add next 4 ingredients (pineapple and liquid), stir, then add cornflour blended with a little water. Bring to boil, stirring till thickened. Add meat balls to sauce, cover and simmer 15 minutes.
